When you register a domain with us, the price includes all registry fees. For .ca domains, all CIRA registration fees are also included in this price. For all other domain types (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, and other generic top level domains), ICANN fees are applicable. There are no hidden fees included in domain registrations with HostedinCanada. Your domain name is registered immediately for the entire length of the registration period that you select.

Domains are registered on a first come, first served basis. Once you have decided on a catchy and memorable name, the next step is to check the availability. Enter the domain name on our Registration page and our system will determine if the domain name is available, then guide you through the rest of the process.

There are two main ways to transfer ownership of a domain name: Registrar Transfer and Registrant Transfer. The procedure for each transfer depends on the type of domain name. When you submit any transfer order on our website, your transfer request must be confirmed. Confirmation is completed using the Administrative Contact email address for your domain. Therefore it is important to ensure that this is a valid, working email address. You may use our Whois service to view the information that is currently listed about your domain name, provided the domain does not have Whois privacy activated. Registrar Transfer

A Registrar is a company that has been accredited by the TLD’s registry to provide domain name registration services. When you perform a Registrar Transfer, you are in effect moving your domain name from one company to HostedinCanada. A successful Registrar Transfer will extend the period of your domain’s registration by one year (from its current expiration date). For more information regarding registrar transfers, please refer to the Transfer sections 8 and 9 in this FAQ.

Registrant Transfer

With a Registrant Transfer, you are changing the current legal “owner” or holder of a domain name. This may be for a simple update of contact information, or because the domain has new ownership. For all domain names, changing the registrant details is a free service that one can perform at any time. Simply go to the My Domains page, select the domain to be modified, and click Edit Domain Contact Information. Please note that this action does not move the domain between accounts or registrars. Furthermore, it should be noted that changing the registrant information for a gTLD domain may trigger a registrant validation process.

When you are registering a new domain name, you will be provided with the opportunity to add a hosting package for a website, site builder, email or exchange. Additionally on the shopping cart page, you can select a hosting package or any other services, specify the domain name you would like to apply this new service to, and click the add button. Once you have added all of the services you need, click the Check Out button to continue to the payment area.
